Buying sunglasses that fit
If you’re thinking about investing in a new pair of sunglasses, my guess is you’ll want them to fit. So, you need to determine your face shape and size.
Fitted sunglasses don’t just look better, they feel better too, meaning they can be worn for longer, and… you don’t need your own personal stylist to pick out the right pair.
Simply follow these simple steps the next time you’re in the market for some shades to avoid buying the wrong pair:
Measure Your Face
Measuring facial dimensions will help you figure out the size and shape of your face. Grab a tape measure, stand in front of a mirror and follow the steps below:
Step 1: Cheekbone to Cheekbone - Hold the end of your tape measure just below your left eye and measure to the same point on the other side of your face to find the width of your cheek bones. Write down this number.
Step 2: Jaw Line - Place your fingers under your left ear and clench your jaw to make finding the left side of your jaw bone easier. Measure from left to right (typically, under your nose) to find the correct measurement. Write down this number.
Step 3: Face Length - Measure from the center of your hairline at the top of your forehead, straight down, over your nose to the bottom of your chin. Write down this number.
Step 4: Forehead Width - Measure the width of your forehead, above your eyebrows, from the left side of your hairline to the right. Write Write down this number.
Match your Dimensions to a Face Shape
Using your measurements, sketch out your facial outline and match it to a ‘face shape’ (click here for a detailed list of face shapes). Once you know which shape best suits your face, you can browse for the most suitable sunglasses - Simple :)
